All-Faith Prayer Meet on Gandhiji’s Martyrdom Day

New Delhi, Jan 30: To mark the 67th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, an all-faith prayer meeting was organized by the Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of West Bengal, at the Muktadhara Auditorium at West Bengal Information and Cultural Centre here today.

Students of Convent of Jesus and Mary, Guru Harkrishan Public School India Gate, Union Academy Senior Secondary School and Shafiq Memorial Senior Secondary School as well as scholars from the Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Delhi, took part in the solemn ceremony, reciting shlokas, religious texts and devotional songs. The event concluded with the rendering of  ”Vaishnava Jana To”, one of the favourite bhajans of Gandhiji, in chorus by the students and noted singer Shri Mihir Basu.

After the programme, Shri Bhaskar Khulbe, Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and Shri R. D. Meena, Principal Resident Commissioner, Government of West Bengal, handed over gifts to all the participants as a token of appreciation.
