The origin of this office can be traced back to 1965 with the Teleprinter Services. On 20th October 1969, the West Bengal Information & Cultural Centre was established. The office was then located at the Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of West Bengal at A/2 State Emporia Buildings, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi 110001. The M.P Corner, which is part of WBICC, New Delhi, was established in 1990 at Banga Bhawan, 3, Hailey Road, New Delhi 110001. On 1st April 2007, WBICC was re-located at “Muktadhara”, Banga Sanskriti Bhawan, Plot No. 18-19, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, New Delhi 110001.

WBICC is working to promote Bengali culture and heritage in the national capital. It also holds regular events to make people aware of the State’s cultural tradition, disseminates information about the programmes and policies of the Government of West Bengal, apart from undertaking media liaison and organizing press conferences to promote and publicize the achievements and works of the State Government.
